MOU
MOU - Museum of Oudenaarde and the Flemish Ardennes - brings to life the 1000-year history of the town, situated in Flanders’ most beautiful landscape. MOU is situated in one of the most beautiful town halls in Belgium. On the ground floor the guide takes you along on a trip in time, from the Middle Ages till today, via interactive media and historical pieces. For centuries Oudenaarde was renowned worldwide for its tapestries, especially the verdures: green tapestries with magnificent landscapes. The museum shows 15 wall hangings, most of them dating from the 16th and 17th century. In three other town hall rooms you will discover that Oudenaarde was also an important centre of the silversmith’s trade. The De Boever-Alligoridès collection is one of the largest silver collections in Flanders, with top objects from eleven European countries.
