Our Lady’s Church of Pamele
Pamele church shines in all its glory on the right bank of the Scheldt. It is extremely rare for a proud lady to reveal her age. However, exceptions prove the rule. On the outside of the remarkable ambulatory is a bronze plaque with the inscription: "Arnulf van Binche 1234". A reference to the master builder. This imposing building is a magnificent example of Scheldt Gothic, a Romanesque-Gothic transitional style.
Fun fact: Margaret of Parma was baptised in this church in 1522.
Visiting hours: every Saturday and Sunday from 11 May until the end of August from 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Extra opening days: 9, 10 and 20 May.
