Volkegem Forest and ‘t Ename Forest

It doesn't take much convincing to explore ‘t Ename forest. The Volkegem Forest is an added extension. A 30 hectare chunk of exquisite nature. It should come as no surprise that this area is protected at European level as part of the Natura 2000 network. This urban forest developed around the site of a former loam quarry, partly through active planting with native-tree and shrub species, partly through spontaneous forest development. Here, too, you can go for hikes and enjoy the exceptional fauna and flora.
