Nature, just a walk away

Starting from the city square, you will reach the green ‘Den Donk’ on foot or by bike in no time at all via the short-cut under the N60. Ideal if you want to avoid blacktop and the beaten tracks, and if you prefer to get to know Oudenaarde and the Flemish Ardennes in a different, more adventurous way. You can find the map here.The recreation domain is 40 hectares in area, more than half of which consists of a lake and an uninhabited island. The combination of marshland, wooded areas and alder coppices around the lake and the remaining grasslands with rows of pollard willows and ditches do not only appeal to water birds.
